"After the operation, I had discomfort, I wasn't 100%. Today, everything is fine": affected by the disease in 2023, the Antibois karting driver Enzo Dubois is looking for sponsors to continue the adventure

In August 2023, the Dubois family's life was turned upside down. Little Enzo, 13 years old at the time, suffered a severe epileptic seizure. He was rushed to the hospital, but after multiple tests, he was diagnosed with a rare and poorly located brain tumor. A devastating blow from which he quickly recovered, demonstrating a steely mind and unwavering determination.
Treated at the Timone Hospital in Marseille by Professor Scavarda, who did everything he could to allow him to continue karting, even adapting his surgery to preserve his vision and cognitive abilities. While taking the risk of a recurrence at any moment, Enzo must undergo lifelong treatment with this sword of Damocles hanging over his head. It doesn't matter to him; today he can ride, and that's what matters. "I think about it quite often because it's not something everyone has. For the first nine months after the operation, I had discomfort; I wasn't 100%. Today, everything is fine."
Because the student at the Fersen middle school in Antibes is not just any schoolboy. A karting driver, he has a passion for this motor sport. Just like his big brother, Théo, 17. "Enzo started karting around the age of 7 or 8 ," says his mother, Ludivine. "At first, he was fearful and anxious, but something clicked, and since then, he hasn't been the same on and off the track. He's an attacker with extraordinary determination. Like during his first race on the Sarée circuit, where he started last in the final to finish in 7th place after 14 laps! He amazed us, it was wonderful to see."
A fan of F1 driver Charles Leclerc and a member of the Dub'Kart Racing association, he was able to meet him at the Monaco GP. He took the opportunity to have his helmet signed, an unforgettable memory... but not the only one. "Last year, he participated in the Jules-Bianchi Marathon in Le Castellet (42 hours of rental karting), where he raced with the Monegasque driver!" his mother recalls with emotion.
To pursue his dream, Enzo Dubois would like to compete, particularly in the Paca League, with club races like the one in Carpentras at the end of August, or the Italian championship. "It's an expensive dream," his mother sighs. "We're always looking for sponsors so he can continue to live his passion. Knowing that everything could stop again if the tumor recurred or if his epilepsy took over again."
A fighter on the track as in life, Enzo sees himself in no other way than motorsport. The proof is that next year, he will begin a 3-year apprenticeship training course in Nice for a professional baccalaureate in automotive mechanics at IFA - Campus sud des métiers, with MR Performance, specializing in engine reprogramming. This is obvious for the young man who dreams big: "My ultimate dream is to become a Formula 1 driver. But above all, to be in motorsport as an endurance driver. Participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, for example, would be legendary!"
